1977-1981

James E. Carter

Democratic Convention Acceptance Speech              July 15, 1976

Vice President was Walter F. Mondale.

Jimmy Carter's Inaugural Address.

He pardoned Vietnam War draft evaders (1977), negotiated treaty with Panama (1978), agreeing to give up U.S. control of the Canal Zone by 1999. Jimmy Carter lost popularity because of high inflation and unemployment and because of his inability to rescue more than 50 Americans captured by Iranian militants at the U.S. embassy in Tehran November 4th 1979, and held hostage until January 20, 1981, the day Carter left office.

Jimmy Carter has been selfless involved in charity work after leaving office.

About his private life: Would anyone have listened to any young woman if Jimmy Carter would have had a casual affair with her?

You be the Judge!
