The course of events leading to the American
Revolution:
1774
September 1774 the 1st Continental Congress
met in Philadelphia where the colonial representatives attempted to decide what to do
next. 56 delegates, representing every colony, except Georgia, came together and agreed on
September 17 to oppose the Coercive Acts.
1775
February 1st , in Cambridge Mass. A provincial
congress was held during which John Hancock and Josef Warren began defensive preparations
for a state of war.
February 9th , the English Parliament declared
Massachusetts to be in a state of rebellion.
