 | 1831 Jackson reorganized his cabinet. Midway in his first
administration Jackson reacted in the Peggy ONeal Eaton affair. Peggy the daughter
of a Washington tavern owner, wife of John Eaton Secretary of War, was due to gossip about
her past not accepted at the ladies tea parties. As women such as Calhouns
wife ignored Peggy. |
 | * Jackson simply got rid of Calhoun for he blamed him for not getting his
wife to invite Peggy. |
