...and let's look a description of what I call my favorite beach...
This description of my favorite beach, tells in detail about the location by using
manmade features. That's how an American Native might describe this certain point which I
call favorite beach.
 | Im 200 yards east of the municipal wharf 1 on the beach of Monterey facing north.
Its just past three thirty p.m. in the afternoon, Wednesday the 3rd of
February 1999. |
 | The temperature reads 65 degrees Fahrenheit in the sun, yet only 56 degrees in the
shade. The sky is blue, its a beautiful clear day. Over at the smokestacks of
Mosslanding a haze covers part of the view. An single plume, a teaser cloud hangs out in
the direction of Freemont Peak and the Gavilans. Its the AT&T week. Its
supposed to rain according to the theory "Every Crosby Clambake in the past has been
a rainy one, therefore in the present and future it should rain too." |
 | The tide is coming in. The wind is picking up. Its a cold offshore breeze. The
sand below my shoes is dry and clean raked by the City of Monterey. Behind me a Monterey
Pine, on each side next to it are Eucalyptus trees. |
 | I go to the oceans edge in an attempt to get an idea of the waters
temperature. I follow the ocean, it retreats, but comes back faster than expected. My feet
are wet and uncomfortable chilly. From this I conclude the water being a nuance to cold
for me. |
 | The bay was calm when I arrived. Now past the wharf, about where the moorings are, and
to the right of it, ripples appear on the waters surface and here and there a white
cap. Indications for a stronger wind. The heavy pontoon tied with cables to concrete
blocks resting in the sandy bottom of the bay barely moves. Two sail boats gently roll
riding their anchor rode. Three big fishing-boats further out go about their business,
they are followed by clouds of seagulls. A whale watching boat is returning with its human
freight. Fog horns signal a boat leaving and another one getting ready to enter the little
harbor. |
